WDO Board Of Directors Report for 2022 AGM

This years World Dance Organisation Directors’ report comes after another very difficult year in our World of dance. The Corona Virus continues to hamper Competitors and Organisers alike and is a problem within Asia in particular. We hope this will ease and all Countries will again be able to open fully and without restrictions as we move into 2023. The War started by Russia to Ukraine, two of the biggest dancing nations, has now also left the whole dance World struggling to comprehend the future. We pray this senseless war will be over soon.

• Help to Ukrainian Dancers

Directors continue working closely with our affiliate member World Dance Competitors Commission (WDCC) in trying to provide help for Ukrainian dancers in need. We would like to thank the Management Committee of the WDCC for all their hard work. As reported in the Director's report in June £10,000 was transferred from the WDO account to the Ukrainian Dancers fund of the WDCC. Additional £14,285 was transferred to the fund from the Ukrainian Fundraiser which the WDO held in co-operation with Matico on Wednesday 30th March 2022 at ‘MATICO’ in Penge, London. WDO Directors waived membership fees for Ukrainian National Organisations and their adjudicators this year.

• WDO World & European Championships

By the end of this year the WDO will have held 20 World and 9 European Championships of 2022 and the Organisers of these events will have given over £36,000 in Prize money to the competitors who participated. The Board of Directors would once again wish to extend their sincere thanks to all WDO Organisers for their continued support.

• Ranking Events

2022 sees the first year of WDO ‘Ranking Events’ for the WDO. A total of £33,300 will be given by the WDO to the Competitors ranked highest over the series of events. This once again shows that the WDO membership fees and contributions will always be put back into our industry whenever possible.

• Arthur Murray International (AMI) lawsuit against the WDO

The projections since the directors' report in June haven't changed. We expect the decision will be rendered at the end of 2023 and we hope that the WDO will prevail in court. The KRCL law firm have been very constructive and supportive in representing the WDO.

• WDO Elections

We are excited to have our first election for the WDO Board of Directors. We have received many nominations from our Committee Members. This makes us extremely proud and confident that we have a strong future ahead of us. We wish all the nominated delegates the very best of luck and are sure the new Board members always continue the WDO principles of fairness, integrity, and freedom.

• BOD Meetings

This year we had 21 Board of Directors meetings (not including Committee Meetings) with numerous additional extra meetings also held. Another very committed year by your Board of Directors we hope you would all agree. Considering the World situation and the fact that the WDO is still a new Organisation we think you will all agree that we have grown enormously in the short time since we originally formed as the World Dance Organisers. We thank you all for your support and look forward to the coming year with optimism and enthusiasm.

Yours sincerely,

WDO Board of Directors.
